Six Scorched Roses by Clarissa Broadbent
Six Scorched Roses is a beautifully written short read that proves you don’t need a full-length novel to tell a powerful story. Clarissa Broadbent has crafted something rich and emotional, filled with depth and meaning despite its brevity. The storyline is engaging from the start, with just the right mix of tension, tenderness, and heart.
The characters are incredibly well-developed for a shorter book — each one feels real, layered, and purposeful. You can tell a lot of thought went into every interaction and moment, making the emotional connection feel genuine and lasting.
It’s a love story that lingers, both dark and hopeful in equal measure. Six Scorched Roses is an easy five-star read that captures everything I love about well-written fantasy romance — short, stunning, and unforgettable.

The Crown of Gilded Bones Book 3 Ash and Bone Series by Jennifer L Armentrout
The Crown of Gilded Bones is another captivating instalment in Jennifer L. Armentrout’s epic series, and it delivers everything fans have come to expect — tension, emotion, and plenty of twists that keep you hooked from beginning to end. The world and characters continue to evolve in ways that draw you deeper into the story, making it hard to put down.
The writing is as strong as ever, and the plot takes some unexpected turns that had me both shocked and eager for more. The characters remain the heart of this book — their growth, struggles, and relationships feel real and compelling throughout. While the story does rely a little heavily on its spicier moments, it doesn’t overshadow the intrigue and depth that make this series so addictive.
Without giving away spoilers, I can say this entry sets up major changes for what’s to come. The Crown of Gilded Bones earns its five stars for sheer entertainment value and emotional investment — a thrilling, romantic, and unforgettable continuation that leaves you desperate for the next book.

The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Clarissa Broadbent
The Serpent and the Wings of Night is a dark, richly imagined fantasy that showcases Clarissa Broadbent’s incredible talent for world-building and crafting intricate plots. The setting is vivid, the lore is deep, and the twists throughout the story keep you invested and intrigued from start to finish. It’s an ambitious and beautifully written book that proves Broadbent knows how to weave complexity and atmosphere into every page.
However, while the world itself is strong, the main characters didn’t quite connect with me in the way I hoped. Their development and emotional depth felt a little lacking, which made it harder to fully invest in their journey. It’s a shame, because with stronger character growth, this could easily have been a five-star read.
Even so, The Serpent and the Wings of Night is a compelling story full of imagination and heart. It’s a solid four-star book that shows tremendous potential — and one I’d still recommend to anyone who loves lush, immersive fantasy worlds filled with danger, intrigue, and romance.
