The Terminus of All Things, by Jay Neill

The Terminus of All Things is a standout debut from indie author Jay Neill — and easily my book of the month. It’s an urban portal fantasy with a fascinating concept that pulls you in and refuses to let go. The world is unique and vividly imagined, blending the ordinary and the extraordinary in a way that feels fresh and exciting from start to finish.

I first discovered Jay on TikTok during my very first month on the platform, and I’ve followed him ever since. Through his videos, he’s shared honest insights into the journey of a first-time author and indie publisher — from the creative highs to the learning curves of self-publishing. He’s always been approachable and supportive, offering advice and encouragement that has helped me in my own author journey.

When I was lucky enough to ARC read The Terminus of All Things, I was absolutely blown away by the quality and depth of the story. Jay’s writing is confident, immersive, and emotionally rich, with a world that feels both magical and grounded. The pacing, worldbuilding, and character arcs all work together seamlessly to create a story that lingers long after you’ve finished reading.

His characters show real growth throughout the story, each one developing naturally as the plot unfolds. You become invested in their choices and challenges, and that emotional connection makes the twists and discoveries even more satisfying. For a first book, it’s incredibly polished and confident in its storytelling.

This one stayed with me long after I finished it, and that’s always the mark of a great read. The Terminus of All Things is a five-star story that I’ll happily revisit — especially if there’s a book two on the horizon.
